This chart belongs to a man who has lost his first son a few days after the baby's birth in 2011 due to some health complications.

This jia wood DM is strong and so the yi-chou fu-yin in his natal chart is negative. The hour pillar also represents the children palace and so the sad event can be due to the problems of his children. For a male jia wood DM, his children are represented by his officer stars which are the geng and the xin metal. Xin protruded in 2011 during his ding-chou LP and unfortunately for him, the ding fire star countered the xin metal star and xin fell into the storage of chou. The ji earth in the natal chart could not arbitrate the countering due to the placements of the 3 stars.

Storage and graveyards of the earth branches can give us some clues about our family members as to when they can face some problems. We have to look at the individual chart to know the extend of the problem. It might not necessarily be a serious one but prevention is always better than cure.

In fact, the second son died about 2 months after I posted this case. No reason was given for the death of the second son.

So what does it usually means when there's a fu yin in the year and time pillar?

And why is it negative for him? Isn't earth element favorable for him as he's a strong wood person.

This is a strong wood DM. So, the yi-chou fu-yin is negative because the protruding yi wood is negative. When the negative fu-yin affects the hour pillar, it means that the sad event can be due to his children or his career since the hour pillar represents the children and career palace. When the negative fu-yin affects the year pillar, sometimes a very sad event can occur during his young age. For example, he can lose a parent earlier on.

I am awared that there are four earth EBs. But I don't quite understand how to identify storage and graveyard earth elements?

Earth EBs occur at the end of every season. The graveyard contains the qi of the ending season while the storage contains the qi of the previous season. For example, the chou is the ending of the winter season and so the graveyard contains the gui water qi while the storage contains the xin metal qi of the previous season which is the autumn.

I have realised that some of the given charts has a lot of DE Kong Wang. For example, in this article, does the kong wang makes any impact to this? Or perhaps is due to the fu yin ?

It's the negative fu-yin that gives him the sad events. In fact, I have told his family that he might also lose his second son since there are two xins inside two storage of chou. True enough, his second son also died a few months ago. I was not told of the reason of the demise.

Many bazi masters believe that DE, death and emptiness or "kong wang" will half the strength of the element that is at the DE palaces. In this case, it is his earth wealth stars. I personally don't read it that way. Any protruding stars that are rooted in the earthly branches are considered as strong.

It is my intention in this blog to share my BaZi knowledge through case studies using mostly the ZiPing technical method. This technical method stresses on the production and the destruction cycles of the 5 elements namely wood, fire, earth, metal and water. However, in July 2016, I have decided to include the classical method as I believe that the correct approach towards BaZi is to blend both these methods.
