This is a strong ji day master with very strong dry earth stars. Classical wise, it's a must to have water stars. It's good that strong day master has output stars. Geng-yi transformation turned the yi star into metal stars. Technical wise, the water wealth star is also positive. So, gui-wei looks like an obvious choice as her best luck pillar.

This is a strong bing day master born during the dark hours of a hot summer. Technical wise, it's good that a strong day master has output and wealth stars in the stems. It will be more complete if the officer water star also appears. Classical wise, we also need the water stars because of the hot summer night. Gui water star will be our choice but it will be transformed by the wu earth whenever it protrudes. Another point to note is that although the output earth stars are positive but when they are too strong, it can be less favorable especially when the earth stars are too dry. So, these dry earth stars too need the water stars to make them fertile. Water star is the balancing factor in this chart.

So, I'm choosing ren-zi as her best luck pillar because

1. water star helps to cool the chart.
2. the water protruding luck pillar can help make the earth stars more fertile.
3. zi helps to clash away the two wu horse stars to reduce the strong fire energy.
4. zi-chen will pull in the shen which represents her wealth and clash away the negative yin tiger.

This is a strong xin day master with very strong resource stars. Negative resource stars especially earth means often trusting the wrong people. For a strong day master, the output stars are very important. So, technical wise, the ren water stars are very useful since the positive HO stars also represent her abilities to express and perform. Classical wise, the ren water stars also polish the beautiful xin. When bing appears, the xin star will sparkle because in the daytime, bing represents the sun. However, the bing will combine with the xin day master and the bing will transform into water star supported by the metal month. This combination is a positive one since the bing is her negative officer star which means she will attract unnecessary attention from men if the bing is not transformed.

The worst star in this chart is the negative ji earth in the year stem. Technical wise, it causes the fire officer stars to be negative. It also counters the two positive ren stars which means complacency can affect her performance. Classical wise, the ji earth will contaminate the two ren water. Since water stars also represent her thinking, it can somewhat affect her judgement.

This chart will be more balance when the wood stars protrude. Not only do the wood stars represent her wealth, they also help to control the negative ji. However, I will not choose her jia-xu as her best luck pillar because the xu will clash the chen and destruct the wei. Neither will I choose yi-hai because of the shen-hai harm.

I'm choosing bing-zi as her best luck pillar because

1. the bing-xin combination transforms the negative bing into positive water star.
2. the shen-zi-chen positive water frame is very favorable one.

The Exact Total Number of Different Bazi Charts

It's time to work your brains. Hahaha.

This is a curious question everyone in this Art would like to know. Everybody should know that there are 60 different pillars in Bazi. So, there are only 60 different years. However, there are only 12 months in a year and about 30 days in a month. If you have learnt bazi for some time, you should know that there are 13 different hour pillars in a day because of the early rat and the late rat.

So, what is the exact possible number of different bazi charts?

I will give you the answer after receiving at least 10 replies. It's harder than you think. Start thinking now. Good luck!

Updated on 21st March, 2017

Yes, Jean got it right. The answer is 561,600 for each gender. The luck pillars for male and female charts are different. Below are the calculations.

There are 60 different year pillars. For each year, there are 12 different month pillars.

This is the hardest part. For each particular year and particular month, there can be 60 different day pillars although there are about 30 days in a month. The reason is because there are unlimited number of 60-year cycles. For example, the day pillars in the jia-zi year and bing-zi month of 1984 are different from that of 1924 although there are some overlaps. So, we can have all 60 different day pillars in jia-zi year and bing-zi month over a few 60-year cycles. Get it?

For each day pillar, there can be 13 different hour pillars.

So, it's 60 X 12 X 60 X 13 = 561,600.

This is a weak ren day master with strong self stars but there is no resource star. Although the self stars are positive, the absence of the resource stars can affect a person's happiness because resource stars also represent the sense of comfort. So, her best luck pillar should be the metal resource luck pillar.

Xin-chou luck pillar will not be my choice because chou will destruct the chen stars.

Although this jia day master was born in the winter month, it is still a weak day master because there are only two support which comes from the gui-hai pillar. Classical wise, this jia day master needs the bing because of the cold winter morning. The positive gui in the month stem is very useful but unfortunately, without the presence of bing, gui-hai is an icy lake. Technical wise, when there are very strong negative wealth stars countering the positive resource stars, one has to be very careful with the finances.

Although bing can give comfort to this cold chart, I would prefer to choose technical balance. This chart needs the metal star to arbitrate the strong earth stars from countering the water stars. Both geng-shen and xin-you luck pillars are equally good except that for geng-shen luck pillar, shen-hai is a harm.

So, my choice is xin-you.

This geng day master although born at the end of the autumn season is still a weak day master as it is surrounded by the fire stars. Obviously, the geng day master needs the earth stars to arbitrate the strong fire stars from clashing it. When the ding fire stars are too strong, they will not be able to forge the geng metal but instead, destroy it.

Since this is a weak geng day master, technically, his favorable stars are the metal and earth stars. I'm sure most of you will choose the earth protruding luck pillar as his best luck pillar.

In the geng-yin luck pillar, the geng will offer little help as it will be countered by the strong fire stars. There will also be two sets of yin-wu-xu negative fire frames. On top of that, yin-hai is also a destruction.

Likewise, in the xin-mao luck pillar, the xin will be countered by the fire stars and mao-xu is also a fire combo. The mao also punishes the two wu horse stars and hai-mao is a half combo of the negative wood frame.

In his present ji-chou luck pillar, the ji will help to arbitrate the fire-metal clash but the chou harms the two wu horse stars and punishes the xu.

So, I choose wu-zi as his best luck pillar because

1. the wu earth will help to arbitrate the fire-metal clash besides strengthening the geng day master.
2. the positive zi will clash away the two negative wu horse stars.

If you understand bazi the way I do, the year and the hour pillar are considered as side by side. So, the wu earth of the year stem and gui will transform into fire stars supported by the summer season. This chart then becomes a fake vibrant chart. A vibrant chart wants to be strengthen further. So, his favorable stars are the fire and wood stars. However, the wood resource stars are not in existence and it affects the quality of this fake vibrant chart. The triple wu horse self punishments can cause impatience. A fake vibrant chart harnesses wealth through self stars and the presence of strong fire energies can provide him opportunities to make money.

His present ren-xu luck pillar is not really bad although ren water is technically negative. This is because the wu earth of the month stem can control it. From the classical theory, ren water can reflect the bing since he was born in the day time and there are 3 sets of wu-xu which are half fire combo. Furthermore, xu is also the storage of the fire stars.

I will not choose jia-zi or yi-chou as his best luck pillar. Although jia and yi are his favorable resource stars, the zi and chou will clash and harm the three wu horse stars.

Although bing-yin comes a little late, I will still choose it as his best luck pillar because

1. bing is his favorable self star which also represents his wealth.
2. yin and the wu horse are half combo of the fire frame and there are 3 sets of them.

It is my intention in this blog to share my BaZi knowledge through case studies using mostly the ZiPing technical method. This technical method stresses on the production and the destruction cycles of the 5 elements namely wood, fire, earth, metal and water. However, in July 2016, I have decided to include the classical method as I believe that the correct approach towards BaZi is to blend both these methods.
